Robert "Bob" Hurst, 78 of Lubbock, formerly of Friona passed away January 13, 2022 in Lubbock. Viewing will be held from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, January 16, 2022 with family visitation from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of HANSARD FAMILY with Celebration of Life Services set for 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 17, 2022 at the Friona United Methodist Church in Friona with Dr. Andrew Hurst, Rev. Kerry Hurst and Rev. Skip Hodges, officiating. Burial following in the Friona Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Bob was born December 25, 1943 in Ft Worth to L.J. and Grace Wooten Foster Hurst. He graduated from Lorenzo High School then later earned a Master's Degree from Texas Tech University. He married Roxanne Hall March 29, 1974 in Dalhart.
Bob taught Vocational Agriculture for many years in Lorenzo and Dalhart. Later, he and Roxanne moved to Friona where he began his new position as manager of Parmer County Implement Company. He became a partner in 1978, purchasing PCIC in the early 1980's.
Agriculture remained Bob's passion as he also was extremely active in local and area stock shows, 4-H and FFA. His generosity included his time an effort in activities of Parmer County communities. He is a past president of the Friona Chamber of Commerce and Friona Man of the Year for 2012. He loved Parmer County, but in 2018, he and Roxanne retired and moved to Raider Ranch in Lubbock.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, and older brother-Michael Hurst.
Those to carry on his legacy include his wife Roxanne of Lubbock, 2 sons, Clint Hurst and wife Shannon of Friona, and Clay Hurst and wife Jennifer of Lubbock, 4 brothers-Terry Hurst and wife Sheri, and Joe Hurst and wife Christy, all of Idalou, Kerry Hurst and wife Kim, and Andy Hurst and wife Jane, all of Lubbock, 6 grandchildren-Trey Hurst, Cade Hurst, Kenzie Byrd, Keegan Hurst, Kyla Wood and Maddie Mitchell, and 1 grandson Hayes Hurst due in March, 5 great-grandchildren, Finley Munns, Gensyn Byrd, Karvis Hurst, Waylon Munns, and Skylar Munns.
The family would like to thank South Plains Rehab Hospital, Bridge Hospice and TaBree Welch.
