War veteran, engineer, husband, father, and grandfather. It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) T. Holmes on November 6th 2021 at the age of 92 surrounded by his loved ones. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate his life. Bob Holmes is survived by his wife of 67 years, Helen Cassell Holmes, and daughters Margaret, Helen, and Bobbie. His daughter Debbie passed away in 2015. He was also blessed with two grandchildren, Laura and Logan. Born on December 4th, 1928, Bob had an eventful life growing up in Gladewater, Texas and graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in aerospace engineering in 1949 at the age of 20. In his adult life, Bob served as an officer in the post World War II occupation of Japan and in the Korean War. He then worked as an aeronautical engineer at Vought Aircraft Industries on projects such as the development of the 747 and stealth bomber. In his free time, he enjoyed being an avid outdoorsman and fly fisherman. Bob was known to have a contemplative style of communication that commanded attention and interest as he shared memories, wisdom, sound advice, and, of course, his fishing acumen. He will be missed by his loved ones, but never forgotten and always loved. Rest in peace, Bob.
