Robert "Bob" / "Mack" Hill, age 90, of Marietta, Ga passed peacefully on October 2, 2022. He had a full and active life until 9 months prior to his death, caused by several strokes. Mr. Hill was born in Hampton, Ga to Julia Tarpley and John Hill Jr. He married Elizabeth Bridges in 1959 and is survived by their daughter, Dorothy Hill Bremer (Ted) and 2 grandchildren Tad & Theresa. In 1987, he married Shirley Goss and was predeceased by her and also his half bother Jack Fears and his half sister Jo Fears Middlebrooks.
Mr. Hill went to grade school in Hampton, Ga. He attended North Ga College for 2 years and then transferred to Ga Tech University, graduating with an Electrical Engineer degree and when eligible he earned his professional engineer license. He spent his career at Lockheed Martin, designing wiring for cockpits and instrumentation, plus troubleshooting electrical issues, for various aircraft, C-141, C-130, C-5, He also had his own electrician business wiring houses and businesses as an added hobby and income.
After retiring from Lockheed he was called back to design wiring for the new C-5 program and share his expertise with the current engineers. He truly enjoyed his electrical work which began in his teen years on the farm. He watched a hired hand do some wiring in his family home and became his helper. Then on his own, he did some wiring on 2 tenant houses and on various farm equipment. During his summers home from Ga Tech he worked as a draftsman in the engineering dept at Southern States Equipment Corp.
Growing up in Hampton, Ga was a small town experience, surrounded by acres of farmland. Mr. Hill known as "Mack" was born in the small downtown area and later moved to farmland area in his pre-teen years. He enjoyed the country life where he helped take care of animals and crops and various other farmhouse chores thus finding his love of the outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt and ride horses. He continued these activities throughout his 90 years of life. He and his daughter rode horses together many years as a special shared hobby.
A legacy known of Mr. Hill was his dedication to church and bible study. He grew up going to church and continued in various roles throughout his life. He taught Sunday School, became a deacon, worked on the sound system, and was the church treasurer, where he attended most of his church years as a charter member of Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta. He loved the Lord and wanted others to share in that love. He also loved his family and friends and was well loved in return.
The burial was handled by Lakeside Funeral Home Woodstock Ga. There will be a celebration of life service on Tuesday Oct 25 at 2:00 followed by a visitation @ Eastside Baptist Church 2450 Lower Roswell Rd Marietta Ga
