Bobby was born August 9, 1958 to Herbert Glass and Lois (Delahoussaye) Southwood in New Iberia, Louisiana. The family moved to Sterling Oklahoma when he was in elementary school, where he made many life-long friends. He milked cows for area farmers when he was in high school to pay for his FFA pig project. After graduation, he worked at the Dolese Plant before being hired on at Goodyear, where he would spend the next 41 years working as a Maintenance Tech. It was there he also made many life-long friends.
Bobby had five beautiful daughters and took to being a Girls' Dad from the beginning. No matter what his girls chose to participate in, he was always right there cheering them on. He was a clogging dad, following his girls from Branson to San Antonio and back. He was a 4-H and FFA dad, and from steers to sheep, he was right there following his girls to points all across the nation and back. He was a cheer dad, a t-ball dad, a coach pitch and softball dad, a basketball and a soccer dad. Most importantly though, he was and always will be just "Dad". And just when he thought his heart couldn't get any bigger, he became Papaw Bob with the birth of his first granddaughter, Aubree, in 1998. Over the years he would welcome seven more and later admitted that having grandkids was the best part of growing older.
Bobby was an avid hiker at the Wichita Mountains. Those mountains were his happy place. He joined the Friends of the Wichitas, serving on the board for a number of years. As a Friend, Bobby found a myriad of opportunities to volunteer, from cleaning graffiti off rocks, cutting wood for Camp Doris to leading many people on hiking excursions. He made many friends over the years, who he always cherished.
Bobby's warmth, compassion, and unwavering dedication to his family and community will be remembered by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will continue to inspire others.
Bobby is survived by his daughters, Tammy and husband James Athnos, Lebanon Illinois, Gina and husband, Brad Mifflin, Cache Oklahoma, Heather and partner, Jack Erwin, Paradise Valley Oklahoma, Holly, Dallas Texas, Hanna, Lawton Oklahoma, and Deandra, Lindsey, Sidney, and Casey Waysepappy, Lawton, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Aubree and husband, Trevor Kelly, Cooper Athnos, Ryland Sumners, Brina Mifflin, Maximus, Thaddeus, Perseus, and Illiythia Erwin, Jordan Judson, and two great-granddaughters Eris and Holland Kelly, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, many from his native Louisiana.
Bobby was preceded in death by his grandparents Elia and Raymond, parents Lois and Herbert, brothers Donald Glass and Harold Glass, sisters Kay Hurn and Patricia Glass, and infant granddaughter Carlie Judson.
A very special thank you to Bobby's hospice nurses, Alex, Michelle, Makinda, Alysha, and Kelsey, and Chaplain Williams for bringing him peace and comfort in his final months.
