Robert E Galbraith
Help us celebrate Robert! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Robert.
Robert E. Galbraith answered the call of his heavenly commander, God, on Sunday, October 25, 2020.
Better known as Bob to his family and friends, he was a very proud retired Marine.
The day before Bob received the call from his Supreme Commander, he had cooked a big ham and served it to his friends and sister Mary at his residence. When he was able, he shared. He was a great cook, taking after his beloved Grandma Blynn. Maybe he knew he might be leaving and wanted one last meal with his friends and family. His way of saying good-bye.
Bob was born August 14, 1951 in Saginaw, Michigan and was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Mildred Galbraith. He has 3 sisters, Marilyn Wolfe, Mary Ager and Diane Galbraith who survive him. Many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive him.
He resided with his mom in Au Gres, Michigan for 30 years, developing many friends in the area. Bob loved living on Lake Huron, observing the freighters and hearing the waves.
Bob loved to deer hunt although we don't recall him ever getting a deer, (well, maybe one a long time ago). What Bob loved most about deer hunting were all the preparations each fall in anticipation of "the hunt". He loved making detailed lists, shopping for all his food items and then carefully packing it all and putting it in his truck. He enjoyed meeting up with family and friends at deer camp and reminiscing about seasons past. He did not enjoy getting cold, which pretty much explains why he did not bag a deer.
A memorial service, with honor guard, will be held in the spring at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Saginaw, Michigan. Date and time will be posted in the spring.
Bob, your sisters love you and know we will be together again one day. In your honor, we all say, "Semper Fi, Hoo-rah !"
The family is being served by Stackus Funeral Home of Boyne City.
