Robert (Bob) Eugene Swan, Jr., of Killingworth, CT., died peaceful in the night on August 26, 2021, at the Guilford House after a brave battle with cancer. Bob was born on February 13, 1939, in Guilford, CT, the son of Robert E. and Dorothy Swan.
Bob graduated from the Daniel Hand High School in Madison, CT., Class of 1957. Following graduation, he attended trade school for auto mechanics. He entered the Army after trade school putting his skills to good use. He was stationed in Germany throughout his military career. As a teenager, he pumped gas for the Killingworth Garage. He would return there as a mechanic, working well into his seventies. Bob was a proud member of the National Rifle Association of America. He received honors while serving in the military for expert marksmanship. He was also a lifetime member of the AmVets Department of Connecticut, receiving a medal for service during a wartime period.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert Sr. and Dorothy Swan. He leaves behind his only son, Raymond E. (Amy) Swan of Clinton, his sister, Janice (Frances) Graham of Westbrook, a niece Lisa (Robert) Carr of East Hartford and his beloved grandchildren, Olivia and Raymond E. Swan, Jr.
Calling hours will take place from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Swan Funeral Home 80 E. Main St. Clinton, CT on Thursday, September 2. Burial will be Saturday September 4, 2021 at the Evergreen Cemetery, Madison, CT at 10:00 a.m.
