Robert John Doherty, age 74, a longtime resident of Laramie, died peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.
Born February 17, 1948, lived in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and over 45 years in Laramie, Wyoming. Robert graduated from University of Maine, B.S. Animal and Veterinary Science and University of Wyoming, M.Ed. Adult Education.
Robert's career demonstrated his passion and commitment in caring for others, including lab technician maintaining dairy cattle involved in leukemia research for Duke Farms Animal Medical Center, over 25 years in the weatherization field, and 17 years for the University of Wyoming, working as Project Safety Coordinator in the UW Safety Office until his death.
Robert is survived by his sister Jeanne-Anne Moran and brother-in-law Edward Moran of Colorado; Sister-in-law Karen Doherty of Indiana; nephews Edward, II and wife Alexis Moran of Colorado; Kevin and wife Jessie Doherty of Arizona; niece Erin and husband Ryan Hedlund of Indiana; grandnephews and nieces Edward, III, Richard, William and Emma Moran; Liam and Lilly Doherty; Sadie and Wylie Hedlund. Robert was preceded in death by his loving parents William and Catherine Doherty, brothers George and William, and sister Catherine. Robert will be laid to rest in New Jersey at a future date.
Services will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at St. Paul's Newman Center Catholic Church, 1800 E. Grand Avenue, Laramie WY 82070. Friends are welcome to a Prayer Vigil and Remembrance for Robert at 6:00pm Monday, August 8, 2022, at St. Paul's Newman Center.
Robert was an active and devoted member of St. Paul's Newman Center Catholic Church.
