Robert "Bob" delaChevrotiere, son of Robert Norman and Evelyn (Gendron) delaChevrotiere, passed peacefully at Fairfax Innova Hospital, on May 19, 2022, just a week shy of his 85th birthday. Bob was formerly married to Martha (Carr) Higgins and together they had three children, all of whom survive him. Kathleen delaChevrotiere of Pittsburgh, PA; Michael delaChevrotiere and his wife Maria of Spartanburg, SC; and Dave delaChevrotiere of San Francisco, CA. Additionally he is survived by his two beloved granddaughters Mya and Marisa delaChevrotiere, daughters of Michael and Maria, who were the apples of his eye. He is also survived by his sister Allene (Joseph) Kalisz of Portland, CT; his brother Ronald (Vee) delaChevrotiere of Brentwood, CA; his brother Andre (Laurel) delaChevrotiere of Meriden, CT and several nieces and nephews.
Bob attended La Salette Seminary in Altamont, NY, before joining the US Marine Corps in 1958. Bob had a great love for his country and served proudly until 1962. He lived by the adage once a Marine, always a Marine and identified as such his entire life. After leaving the service he worked for NOAA, US Dept of Commerce, as a Negative Engraver until his retirement. He then worked for Michael Baker International for several years.
Bob was a loving Father and Grandfather, a hard worker and an excellent provider for his family. He was an avid sports fan, a fierce poker player and a golfer. He enjoyed watching professional golf, his beloved Yankees and Redskins. He was a funny and charismatic man. He last resided at Paramount Senior Living in Manassas, VA, where he made many friends among both residents and staff. His dear friend Kathy Wyckoff visited him frequently and they enjoyed many spirited games of chess and long conversations of friendship. He loved the freedom of driving his car with his signature "5 CARD" license plate, even if only for a run to Costco to stock up on another of his favorite things, sweets of all kinds. He led a simple life, and was easily contended. Bob will be greatly missed.
