Robert Earl Curtis
Help us celebrate Robert! Please share your stories and photos, and invite others who remember Robert.
Robert was born on October 31, 1941, to Tom and Billie Curtis in the notorious Collins Street Bakery town of Corsicana, TX. Raised in a hard-working and modest family, he was the youngest of three children and always "dreamed big" from a very early age. His passion and drive for "excellence" were values he attained and perfected during his 81 years in every aspect of his life. Combined with his endless determination, hard work, and life sacrifices, Robert's childhood love and fascination for aviation led him to become a corporate pilot, which was his wonderful career when he unexpectedly met the love of his life, Linda Gail Schrecker, whom he asked to marry on their first date. And although it took a while longer for Linda to finally accept his marriage proposal, they officially united their hearts and futures on March 20, 1970. This divine union marked the beginning of their fairytale romance and life partnership together, fulfilling numerous goals, adventures, and dreams, including the blessings of their two daughters.
After a 15-year flying career (in addition to several entrepreneurial side jobs along the way), Robert and Linda launched Curtis Air Services, Inc. in 1978, serving as the pillar of their careers. This successful international air cargo charter business gained its reputation in the aviation industry, opening many doors of opportunities and experiences for Robert and Linda during its 30-year existence until their retirement. Of course, they always knew the source of these successes was not accidental in the least, but rather undeserved blessings from their Heavenly Father. Robert and Linda were always very grounded and dedicated in their faith, and spent 14+ years attending the First United Methodist Church of Conroe before later joining the Walden Community Church in Montgomery over 30 years ago. Robert always enjoyed singing a joyful noise to the Lord in his church choir membership and has taken great pride in serving his church and community.
Robert was so much more than just a successful businessman; he was most significantly known as a dedicated and loving husband, father, and grandfather ("Papa"), which fueled all of his ambitions from very early in life. Robert and Linda's love for travel took them all over the world, most especially and significantly to Israel, to walk in the footsteps of Jesus. They also loved traveling throughout America, Canada, and Alaska in their Foretravel motorhome, experiencing so many of God's amazing creations and perfect beauty while creating numerous special friendships along the way. His love for the water and boating was always abundant, and flying model airplanes was a favorite pastime in his later retirement years. Above all, Robert and Linda shared a romantic love like no other, a love that defied expectations and touched the lives of all who witnessed it. Robert truly built a legacy that will sustain him for many generations to come, and his missing presence leaves behind a void in each of our lives that will be kept alive with our many photos, special memories, and the promise of our eternal salvation, where we will someday all be reunited.
Robert is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 53 years, Linda Curtis of Montgomery, TX, his 92-year-old little "big brother" Charles Curtis of Corsicana, TX, daughter Staci (Steve) Berry of Cedar Park, TX, daughter Heather (Ronnie) Dartez of Montgomery, TX, and four wonderful grandchildren to include Sarah Berry of Georgetown, TX, Samuel Berry of Irving, TX, Taylor McMichael of Montgomery, TX, and Jay Berry of Cedar Park, TX, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Our family would like to give our most sincere gratitude to the numerous precious friends and prayer warriors, church family members, exemplary medical staff, and special caregivers that have so lovingly supported Robert and his family with love, knowledge, encouragement, and excellent care during these last 15 months.
A "Celebration of Life" will take place on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023, at the Walden Community Church in Montgomery, TX, beginning at 10 a.m. with a family visitation and the memorial service at 11 a.m. A graveside service will follow afterwards at the Garden Park Cemetery in Conroe, TX.
