Robert Carlisle Clark, 91, died Tuesday, December 8th at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, NH, after a brief illness.
Robert was born in Boston, MA, the son of the late Mary (Anderson) and Joseph Clark, Sr. He grew up in Dorchester and attended area schools. Robert served in the US Army during the Korean War from July 14, 1951 to March 7, 1953 with the 212th Ordnance Detachment (Explosives Disposal) and was honorably discharged with the rank of Master Sergeant. For his service, Robert was awarded the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Stars and the United Nations Service Medal. Returning to Boston, he attended Boston University, graduating in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Robert went on to work for Raytheon, Honeywell, and lastly Digital Equipment Corporation in Field Service Management. Robert was also active with the Kiwanis Club of Greater Lawrence MA, serving as secretary from 2003 - 2004. Bob lived in Salem for over fifty years where he and his late wife, Jackie, raised their family. For many years, Bob was an active and supportive member of the First Congregational Church of Salem, NH, serving on the Ways and Means committee and as an enthusiastic member of the choir. For the past few years, Bob lived in Plymouth, NH with his daughter Jacki. He could always be seen enjoying his many walks around the neighborhood and soaking up the sun with a cup of coffee in his favorite spot on the front porch.
One of Bob's greatest pleasures was spending time with family and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing camp at Norford Lake Club in Norwich, VT, hiking and camping the Whites with Alex, Austin and Owen; fishing and exploring Waterville Valley with Bobby, Annie and Chris. He loved sailing and tennis. Bob was an avid pilot, a member of AOPA, and held a private pilot license. A favorite trip was to fly out to Oshkosh, WI annually for the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh Air Show. He was last there in 2018 accompanied by his grandson Bobby.
He is survived by his daughter, Jacqualynn of Plymouth and former son-in-law Rene Schwartz of Waterville Valley; his son Michael and his wife Donna Clark of Bow and Gorham; his sisters, Patricia Hansen of MA, Irene Kruise of CO, and Carol Starr of MA; his brothers; Vincent Clark of MA and Daniel Clark of FL; his grandchildren, Robert, Anna and Christopher Schwartz, Alexander, Austin and Owen Clark; several nieces and nephews and his devoted cat Sox, always keeping his spot warm.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of fifty years, C. Jacquelyn (Thompson) Rose Clark; his sisters, Mary Clark and Marjorie Murphy and his brothers, Joseph Clark, Jr., and Richard Clark.
