Robert (Rob) Lyttleton Capell was born on October 28, 1948 and passed away on January 1, 2021 and is under the care of Roswell Funeral Home.
Rob, after several years of fighting liver disease, chose to surrender to the fight. He passed away peacefully in his sleep New Year's morning. He lived a wonderful life filled with many successes. He believed if something was worth doing, it was worth doing well. He was born in Henderson, TX, son to Robert L. Capell, Jr. and Grace Coffield Capell who both preceded Rob in death. His only brother, William (Bill) Coffield Capell married to Pam Spangle Capell of Lafayette, LA survives Rob.
Besides graduating Salutatorian in 1966 from Lafayette High School, he graduated first in the College of Electrical Engineering at LSU in 1970. He attended the MIT Sloan School of Business earning a 5.0 Masters of Technology in 1988.
Rob's 52 year marriage to Jacqueline (Jackie) Holleman Capell was one of unconditional love. Their friendship and partnership and respect for one another was obvious to their friends and their two children: Robert (Lyt) Lyttleton Capell, IV married to Heather Haynes Capell of Cumming, GA and Alison Capell Earle married to William (Billy) F. Earle, III of Alpharetta, GA.
Rob is also survived by his four gifted, caring and super good-looking grandchildren. He shared his character, integrity and wit with Jack Lyttleton Capell, Alexander William Capell, Lillian (Lily) Grace Earle, and William Tate Earle.
Rob was admired and respected by all who had the privilege to work with him throughout his BellSouth career. He was an officer for BellSouth and was instrumental in the development and launch of BellSouth.net Internet Services. Some would say that his dedication to work was extreme, however, at the age of 50 he retired from his 30 years with BellSouth to enjoy his family, fishing, boating, reading, golfing and traveling with Jackie. He loved watching comedy classics with his children and quoted lines from Animal House, Blues Brothers, Airplane, etc.
Rob was a member of the SAR, The Society of the Cincinnati, LSU Alumni Assoc., MIT Alumni Assoc., Tau Beta Pi and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Societies, Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity, BellSouth AT&T Pioneers, IEEE, University Yacht Club where he served most of the last 10 years as Finance and Communications Chairman.
Our hearts are full of his love and our minds are filled with wonderful memories. "He had a nice time and he enjoyed it."
