Born January 21st, 1938 to Lyle and Minnie Campbell in Decatur, IL, Robert grew up in the 1940s which wasn't as idyllic as the old TV shows and movies portray it to be, but life was much simpler.

Robert then married Marlene J. Mork on March 28th, 1959 in Clarkfield, MN. Their only child, John P. Campbell, was born October 19th, 1960.
Robert and his family then moved to moved to Laramie WY where he began teaching English at the University of Wyoming. After the tenure debacle of 1973-1974, Robert began teaching at the University Lab School or Prep, teaching 100s of students between 1975 to 1997 when he retired early to take care of his wife.
After Marlene's death, Robert kept busy entertaining his four grandkids; Katie, Kara, Koby, Kylie and great grandson Henry, as well as loving on his various pets and of course, fly-fishing. He truly loved fishing dry flies, enjoying the splashy strike of a rainbow hitting various favorite dry flies. He also married Cynthia Jane Wade who passed away in 2023.
