He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in August, 1951 during the Korean War. Assigned to the Ammunition Depot Annex in Hingham, he met the love of his life, Frances Calabro and they married soon after in 1952. Years of living in New England barely sped up the smooth Southern drawl that he used to warmly greet everyone he met. He was a devoted father, a doting grandfather and a caring uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He owned a landscaping business for many years and had a job ready for anyone that needed one and that was willing to work half as hard as he did. His dinner table always had room for more chairs. Robert approached life with jocularity and unconditional kindness and acceptance, he was a lovely human being. Due to the Covid19 pandemic, the visitation will be private. There will be a committal at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA at 2:15 PM on Friday, January 29, 2021.
