Robert Francis Brick, 93, affectionally known as "Big Bob," resident of Southington, died peacefully at home on Sunday, April 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years Barbara (Grumman) Brick and their five children: Robert W. Brick, Colleen Ennis (Brian), Susan D'Agostino (Charlie), Terence Brick (Wendy) and James Brick (Suzanne), 10 grandchildren: Ryan, Shannon, Meghan, Matthew, Kevin, Evan, Katie, Ian, Mary-Claire and Weston and 5 great-grandchildren. Bob was born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut, son of the late William and Helen (Sullivan) Brick. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen (Brick) Carroll and brother, William Brick. Bob attended Sacred Heart School of Waterbury from kindergarten through high school, and then graduated from Villanova University where he earned his degree in Economics. Bob proudly served in U. S. Army where he was stationed in Germany for his entire tour. Upon his return home, he started his career at Connecticut Light and Power as a traveling auditor then transferred into the tax department. He remained with Northeast Utilities in different roles and leadership positions until he retired after 38 years of service. He was a past President of the Connecticut Chapter of the Villanova Alumni Association. Bob was involved in St. Dominics' parish since its founding. His faithful service to the church included years of being on the parish and finance counsels and running the annual church fair. He lived his faith; attending Mass daily and serving as a member of ACTS group, as well as attending weekly prayer meetings. Walking was his passion. He could be seen twirling his walking stick and humming along as he walked his usual route down Pleasant Street. Bob was an avid Southington sport fan and golfer. Whether it be school related or town sponsored, you could find him cheering on his children and then later his grandchildren. Bob was a true New Englander. He loved the Red Sox, family time at their summer cottage, "JustaPal" and a big bowl of clam chowder. His life's legacy is one of faith, family and patriotism. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory may be made to Bread for Life, PO Box 925, Southington, CT 06489 (https://southingtonbreadforlife.org/) or to the Office of Radio & Television (ORTV, Inc.), 15 Peach Orchard Rd., Prospect, CT 06712-1052 (https://www.ortv.org/mass.html).
