Robert "Bobby" Eugene Bolding passed away peacefully at his home on July 6, 2021
after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Bobby was born on January 26, 1948 to Beler Milton Bolding and Leota Elizabeth Johnson in Plainview, Texas. He graduated in 1966 from Plainview High School where he played basketball all four years and still holds the record for most points scored in a game. He continued his basketball career while attending McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. There he met Gayle Conley of Robert Lee and graduated in 1970 with a business degree in marketing. Bobby joined the 490th Civil Affairs of the Army Reserve from 1970-1976. After completing basic training, he and Gayle married on August 7, 1971 in Robert Lee.
Before receiving his teaching degree from Angelo State University he worked for Earnest
Clenndennen and Ben Bessent Chevrolet. In 1979, he began coaching and teaching at Robert Lee ISD where he remained for 37 years before retiring in 2016.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gayle Bolding, his daughter Bree Sherwood
and her husband Adam Morgan of Robert Lee, his son, Brady Bolding of Robert Lee and five grandchildren: Brayden and Brenner Sherwood, Dailyn and Ruby Morgan and Montana Bolding.
He was a devoted husband, father, Papa, son, brother, uncle, friend and Coach. He will be
missed but most definitely never forgotten.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of San Angelo for their exceptional care and all his
friends and family for their continued support and prayers. Visitation will be Thursday, July 8, 2021, 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, with family time from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Shaffer Funeral Home in Robert Lee. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021 at 1:30 PM at Robert Lee Methodist Church with burial to follow at the Robert Lee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Robert Lee Methodist Church or charity of your choice in his honor. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home/ Robert Lee.
