Passed away on July 23, 2022 at the age of 90. He is survived by his loving daughter, Laura Trotalli, and granddaughters Sierra and Sedona of Apache Junction, Arizona and special nephew and niece, Mark Disch and Michelle Marking Disch of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Irene, his sister, Dolores Disch, his brother, Albert and sister, Mary Jean Pitts. He is further survived by his brother-in-law, Bob Pitts of Kenosha, sister-in-law, Peg Trotalli of Trout Lake, WI and many nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and friends both here and in Italy. He graduated from Madison West High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1953. Bob graduated from U.W. Madison in 1956 with a Degree in Economics and in 1958 with a Master's Degree in Public Administration. In 1990 he retired as the Assistant Dean of Students at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Bob took pride in establishing the Disabled Student Service Office which became the Accessibility Resource Center now serving over 700 students. He established the permanent, Robert J. Trotalli Scholarship Fund for undergraduate students with financial need and a permanent disability. He also held a real estate license for many years. As a freshman he competed in two boxing tournaments as a finalist and won a Silver glove. He is a life member of the UW Alumni Association, the Memorial Union and Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity and the Italian Community Center where he served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Conference Center. After retirement he was a volunteer for twenty years building and rehabbing homes often tiling using the same tools his father, a stone mason, handed down to him for the Milwaukee Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church - Good Shepherd Parish, 1128 St. James Ct., Madison, August 5 at 10:30 AM. Memorial gathering at the church from 9:30 AM until time of Mass. Committal to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to UWM Foundation for the Robert J. Trotalli Scholarships Fund or the Elmbrook Humane Society.
