Robert "Bob" Blue Pinkston was born 15 October, 1938. On 29 January, 2024, with family by his side, he relinquished his soul to God for safekeeping.
Bob spent most of his youth in Cumberland and Moore Counties, graduating from Carthage High School. What came next was a year of studies at Presbyterian College and then a decision to enter the US Army, in which he served well and from which he was honorably discharged in 1961. He returned to his studies, graduating from St. Andrews Presbyterian College in 1964. The next decades would bring a first marriage, four children and positions as an accounting manager. Eventually, he started his own business, a journeyman accountant, servicing his clients in person. He liked it and they liked him. When the work of accounting became a thing for younger men, he rediscovered his preference for the solace of a quiet fishing hole. And, then there were his treasured canine companions...most especially Pearl. He was a good man...kind, gentle, patient, generous and funny. A confidant.
Bob is survived by his wife, Victoria Byers Watkins; four children, Janie Pinkston Sutton (Shelly), Jennifer Pinkston, Tommy Pinkston (Gloria) and Catherine Pinkston (Sean); and his precious granddaughter, Sophie Pinkston. He is also survived by his brother, Malcolm Pinkston (Donna); nephew, Matt Pinkston; niece, Elizabeth Sawyer (Sam); and grandnephews Ryan and Ethan Sawyer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Blue Pinkston; father, Joseph Wilds Pinkston; brother Joseph Wilds Pinkston, Jr.; and brother, John McNeill Pinkston.
The family will gather for a private time of fellowship.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made to World Vision in Bob's name.
