Robert William ("Bob") Fleming
Dec. 29, 1948 - January 12, 2023
Surrounded by friends, Robert William ("Bob") Fleming passed away peacefully on the afternoon of January 12, 2023, after a long and courageous battle against prostate cancer and complications arising from it. Bob was born in Chicago on December 29, 1948 and grew up on the city's tough and vibrant South Side. He graduated from Saint Rita High School and attended Northern Illinois University. He served as a Chicago police officer for several years before becoming the head of security at a large downtown hotel. After several trips out west he fell in love with Colorado and relocated to Loveland in the early 1980s, where he joined the Loveland Police Department. After a number of years on that force, he realized his dream of owning his own company, Fleming Security Services, which he ran until he sold the business in 2018. Growing up in Chicago, Bob developed passions for sports and music, as well as a lifelong desire to get the heck out of the cold and go find a beach somewhere. He was an avid fan of the White Sox, Blackhawks, Bears and Bulls. He loved blues music and rock 'n' roll and was always up for a live concert. Bob was a longtime member of the recovery community in Northern Colorado and served as an inspiration to countless people. Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Fleming, and his son, Michael Fleming. He is survived by his sister, Diane Campbell of Homer Glenn, IL and his grandson, Triston Meyer, who was the apple of his eye. There will be a celebration of Bob's life on February 11 at 1:30 pm at the Mountain View Presbyterian Church, 2500 North Garfield in Loveland. Donations may be made in Bob's name to the charity of your choice.
