Robert Daniel Bertoli "Bob" went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, September 5, 2024. Bob was born Nov. 17, 1939 and was raised in the north end area of Boston, MA. He enlisted in the Marines at age 18 and served as a PFC helicopter mechanic. Bob participated in the Fast-Landing Force Fleet Marine Force. During the Atlantic Amphibious Exercise pf 1958, which was the first landing exercise in history where a force of such magnitude was landed by helicopters from bases of nearby US Navy Aircraft Carriers. He married Dora "Dorly" Widmer of Zurich Switzerland on April 8, 1967. Bob and Dorly lived in Michigan where Bob worked at General Motors as a welder/millwright until he retired in 2000. Together they relocated to Tellico Village, TN to enjoy retirement. As a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City, Bob served as a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer, he loved seeing movies at the theatre, dining out and spending time with friends and family. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Louis R. and Mildred V. (Tamulevich ) Bertoli, sister, Carol Ann Bertoli and stepmother, Elfriede Bertoli. He is survived by and will be dearly missed by the love of his life and best friend, wife, Dorly; sisters, Corinne French and Diane Bertoli; several nieces and nephews. A funeral mass to honor and remember Bob was held Monday, Sept. 16th, 2024 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Father Adam Royal officiated.
