Rob was born October 6, 1964 to D. W. and Melva Wilson in Beaumont, Texas. He was a native of Lumberton, and a resident in the Zavalla area since 2002. Rob was a 1983 graduate of Lumberton High School, where he served in the original Junior Volunteer Fire Department program. He carried that passion into the Lumberton Volunteer Fire Department, where he proudly served from 1980 to 1996, eventually departing as Fire Marshal to pursue other professional interests. Rob proudly served his country with the US Coast Guard - an honor he held very close to his heart - before working with Chevron for over 34 years, retiring as a Reliability Production Investigator. He was a true man of God, and was a member of the Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Zavalla where he particularly loved his fellowship with his men's Sunday School class. In retirement, Rob, aka Poppie or PawPaw, enjoyed spending his time with family and friends. He loved to fish, but was just as content simply making memories while cruising the local rivers and lakes. He fancied himself the "Brisket Master", as BBQing for his loved ones was another passion of his. When he wasn't acting as general foreman for "Rob's Construction Company" for his bride's latest project, he thoroughly enjoyed riding 4 wheelers, biking, flying drones & shooting; he absolutely loved flying his kites at the beach, even if it meant walking a mile to retrieve one when it got away. His day wouldn't be complete without a game of fetch, and a bit of companionship from his two pups, Frio & Astro. Most of all, family was Rob's biggest passion. He loved like no other, being a selfless and simple man who never failed in putting others before himself. He so enjoyed giving of his knowledge to mentor others, whether it be his kids or grandkids, or those he worked with in his professional endeavors, as there were many of both; he gave freely of his time to enrich the lives of any who asked.
He was preceded in death by his parents, D.W. Wilson and Melva Loper, and son, Trevor Marshall.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Donna Wilson of Zavalla; sons, Trey White and wife, Jessica of Lumberton, and Joshua Wilson and fianc?e, Mandie of Vidalia; daughter, Kristie Hartmangruber and husband, James of Zavalla; brothers, Ray Wilson and wife, Vickie of Lumberton, and Ronnie Wilson and wife, Karen of Buna; and sister, Diane Harris of New Caney, TX; grandchildren, Leah White, Trenton "T.J." White, Taylor White, Tyler White, Tatum White, Trevor White, Tyson White, Kynsley Harris, Trevyn Bihm, Bryanna Bennett, Parker Bennett, and Jacob Wilson; and many other loving family, and friends.
