Rita D. Rubenstein, a long-time resident of Fredericksburg, VA, passed away at her daughter's home, in Beaufort, SC on June 9th.
Rita B. Divico was born on July 27, 1933 in Cumberland, Maryland, to Benjamin Camillo Divico and Maria Ines Divico, nee Grande. Rita's parents immigrated to the United States in the early 1900's from Frosinone, Italy.
Rita attended Saint Mary's grade school and graduated from Saint Mary's High School. Growing up in Cumberland, Rita enjoyed swimming, reading, and many outdoor activities. On February 23, 1952, she married Cpl. Forrest J. (Jim) Rubenstein, Sr., USMC, in Washington DC. Rita was an excellent career military wife and wonderful mother to their four children. In later life, she worked as a manager for H.R. Blair and was also proud of her volunteer work for Mary Washington Hospital.
Rita was kind, compassionate and eternally devoted to her family, children and grandchildren. She always tried to find the good in people.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Forrest J. (Jimbo) Rubenstein, Jr.. Rita is survived by her daughter, Linda A. Herbaugh (Michael), sons Thomas G. Rubenstein (Deb) and Noble W. Rubenstein (Monic), six grandchildren, three very special great grandchildren and daughters-in-law Tricia Rubenstein and Pat Rubenstein.
A small graveside service will be held prior to her interment in Arlington National Cemetery with her late husband.
