Rita Mae (Silveus) Strand, 82 years old of Edwardsburg, passed to her rest Aug. 29, 2018 at her home with her family present. She was born March 19, 1936 in Osceola, IN the daughter of Gerl Glen 'John', Sr. and Wilma Josephine (Zorn) Silveus and lived in the Michiana area all of her life. She graduated from Mishawaka High School. She attended Granger Missionary Church for many years, helping in the nursery. She enjoyed doing many crafts, but one of her greatest joys was to help raise five of her grandchildren; Jacob, Joe, Chris, Rebecca and Rachel. Her grandchildren express their loving thanks for making such a huge impact on their lives and the love that she shared with them.
She is survived by her children; Frank (Peggy) Strand of Texas, Troy (Shannon) Strand of Dowagiac and Angela Strand of Edwardsburg. There are 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings; Gerl Glen 'John', Jr. of Osceola, Thomas (Elaine) Silveus of Knox and Lydia (Steve) Rienks of Naperville. There is a sister-in-law Barb Silveus of Edwardsburg. Family who have preceded her in passing, are her parents, her beloved husband, William L. Strand and brothers William Silveus and Scott Silveus and a sister-in-law Lois Silveus.
Family and friends may gather on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Granger Missionary Church 50841 Birch Road, Granger. The Christian Remembrance Service will be on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Granger Missionary Church, where all may gather for one hour before the service. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be at a later date in Adamsville Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to the Granger Missionary Church.
