It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of t is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rita A Dubreuil, aged 98, at the Studley Home in Rochester, NH, on February 28, 2024, surrounded by family.
She was born in Manchester, NH, on November 13, 1925, the daughter of the late Antoinette (Cote) and Joseph Bernier. She attended elementary school in Epping. During World War II, she apprenticed and was licensed as a gas burner at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. It was there she met her future husband, a Marine, Robert (Frenchie) Dubreuil. When our men returned from the war, they were rehired to replace the women, at which time she then worked at the National Shoe and Leather Shoe factory in Epping. She later worked for the Nike Shoe factory in Exeter, and later volunteered and worked at Exeter Hospital, which was her favorite place of employment.
Rita is survived by a son, Gary Dubreuil, who resides in League City, TX, and a brother, Marcell Bernier, of Bradenton, FL, in the winter and Bow Lake in the summer.
She is also survived by sisters Pearl Lavigne of Brentwood, NH; Theresa Yergeau of Epping, NH; Doris Deshaies of Pompano Beach, FL; Cecile Moreau of Lynn Haven, FL; Leona Payeur of Dover, NH, and Jeanette Hauschel of Epping, NH. She had numerous nieces and nephews.
Rita was predeceased by her husband Robert and son Larry, as well as a sister, Noella Proulx, and brothers Roland, Leo, and Wilfred (Bill) Bernier.
She was a beloved mother to her two sons, Gary and Larry. Rita was a faithful member of St. Joseph's parish in Epping and later St. Mary's in Newmarket. She relocated to Epping and returned to St. Joseph's Parish.
Rita spent many years wintering in Pompano Beach, Florida, and was the family caretaker for our mother, both in Newmarket and in Florida. While in Florida, she joined a bowling league and made many new friends there and in the mobile home park. Thanks to our sister Doris for watching over Rita for several winters.
We, Rita's family, would like to express our appreciation to Studley Home in Rochester, NH, and Cornerstone VNA for the loving and gentle care given to Rita.
