Ricky E. Marshall, age 61, of Taberg, passed away peacefully at home on April 4, 2019, with his loving family at his side.
He was born November 26, 1957, in Rome, the son of Richard Marshall and Shirley (Closs) Lyons. He graduated from Camden Central School, where he met the love of his life, the former Terri Collins. They united in marriage on May 14, 1977, in St. Patrick's Church, Taberg. Ricky operated his own excavating business for 17 years and worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Annsville Highway Department. He retired as Highway Superintendent, with 40 plus years of service. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church.
Ricky's first love was his family; especially his wife, children, granddaughters and beloved pets. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends in the beautiful countryside and lakes of our area. He was very proud of his champion beagles that he raised and trained, and also served as president of the Mohawk Valley Beagle Club. Another passion of his was car racing. For many years, he raced stock cars at Evans Mills and Utica-Rome Speedways. Ricky will always be remembered by his family and friends for his kind and giving heart.
He is survived by his loving wife, Terri; a daughter and son in law, Rachael and Nicholas Pulizzi of Cleveland; a son and daughter in law, Ryan and Natalie Marshall of Taberg; his mother, Shirley Lyons of The Villages, Florida; two sisters and a brother in law, Charmaine and Rich Demkowitch of Ilion, and Terry Pitoniak of Camden; granddaughters, Scarlett Pulizzi and Caitlin Marshall; his mother in law, Therese Collins of Taberg; sisters in law and brothers in law, Tina and Craig Carissimo, Tamara and Douglas Nuccio, Therese Tardugno, Trudy and Anthony DeMatteo, Thomas and Margina Collins, Timothy Collins, and Todd and Kimberly Collins; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his stepfather, James Lyons, and father in law, Thomas Collins.
