Our dear Rick Tyrell was summoned to the presence of our Lord and Savior on the 25th of September, 2018. Before leaving peacefully, Rick lived a short, but good 51 years with family by his side. He was birthed of Miliama Siau, by George Tyrell in Lepea, Samoa on June 22, 1967. Most of his fulfilling life was spent in American Samoa, where he graduated as a part of the first class of Tafuna High School with the class of 1986. Upon completion of high school, Rick spent all of his time in the place he loved most, the ocean. He spent every year from the time he was 18 until he was 48 working in the waters he loved as a commercial fisherman. Rick also worked as a security officer at the American Samoa Power Authority for five years. Rick was not only a hardworking man, but he was also loving, caring, and forgiving. But even with all these attributes, Rick maintained his humility with a lack of boastfulness. Never refusing to lend a helpful hand, Rick could be found assisting anyone he could in any matter, all while asking for nothing in return. Rick was a simple man, appreciating the little things in life. Above these was sharing moments with the people he loved most around the thing he liked most, be it a picnic on the beach or a fishing trip in the sea. If he wasn't found in the company of his loved ones, Rick was seeking Lord by prayer with a Bible in hand. He was a God-fearing man that held steadfast in his faith as a member of the Latter Day Saints. Rick has an infectious smile, and rich laugh stood as a figure to be adored for his exceptional character. Rick Tyrell will be greatly missed by the people that were blessed to have him as a husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. May his soul live on in eternal memory as we offer this tribute to his beautiful and generous spirit.
