Richard Olen Wright was born August 22, 1947 in Pana, IL to Kenneth Olen and Wilma Virginia Wright. He was raised in southern and central Illinois and received an associate degree and bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University. His career in sales with NL Industries, Church & Dwight, Olin Chemicals to name a few, led him to residences in St. Louis, MO, Ewing Township, NJ, Chicago area, IL, Wisconsin, Greenwood, SC and Florence, SC. His passion was tactical defense and being active in the SC State Constable program for over 20 years. He enjoyed sharing his expertise with anyone wanting training in self-defense. Richard began his retirement in Florence, SC and continued his retirement in Winston-Salem, NC. He passed away January 7, 2021, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Family was his first priority, and Richard enjoyed many vacations and travel both in the US and to France and Italy. He had a special place in his heart for Maui, Hawaii. One of his most favorite tunes was "Oh Lord, It's Hard to Be Humble" by Mac Davis. He enjoyed all types of music, shagging at Myrtle Beach, driving his VW GTi, and he never met a stranger. After being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, he started a Support Group in Florence which provided a great deal of information to all its participants. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Nancy (Kovach) Wright, whom he married in 1969; two sons, Paul Richard Wright and Brian Todd Wright (Kim); two grandsons, Brendan Cole Wright and Dalton Riley Wright; and his sister Linda W.
