Richard Waldemar Wismar III died on July 13, 2022. He was 81 years old. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ardith Albrecht Wismar and their four sons, Richard IV, Thor, Troy, and Leif (wife Evie) and his grandchildren, Lauren, Luke, Bryce, Ethan and Rhia. He is also survived by his brothers, Bruce (wife Lynn) and Keith (wife Miriam). He is predeceased by his parents, Richard Jr. and Evelyn Wismar and his brother, Ronald Wismar. He followed in his grandfather, Richard Waldemar Sr.'s footsteps to become a Lutheran school teacher. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Concordia Teachers College in River Forest, Illinois, a Master of Arts in Education from Tulane University, a Master of Arts in Education from LSU, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education from UNO. He served in several positions in the Lutheran Church during his long career. His first was as Director of Christian Education at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend, Kansas. He then served as teacher and principal of First Lutheran School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He last served as a professor at Concordia University in Portland, Oregon, teaching future Lutheran school teachers. He truly was a gentleman, a Christian, and a scholar. The memorial service will be at 11 am on Friday, July 22, 2022, at Grace Funeral Home, 450 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433. Following the service, there will be a celebration of life reception at the funeral home.
