Richard M. Westrick, 79, passed away on November 19, 2022 at the Exeter Hospital. He was born on July 22, 1943 in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Marvin and Evelyn (Marcot) Westrick.
He grew up in Gross Pointe Farms, MI and attended Gross Point East High School and Austin Catholic High School. He served in the US Navy Submarine Service for 6 years from 1962-1968 aboard the USS George C. Marshall SSBN-654, the USS Clamagore SS-343 and the USS Carp SS-338. Richard formerly resided in Oakdale, CT and Turners Falls, MA before moving to Nottingham in 1980.
His professional career specializing in nuclear power began at the Millstone Nuclear Station in Waterford, CT. Later he worked for Western MA Electric and Northeast Utilities at Cabot Station and Northfield Mountain. After moving to New Hampshire, he worked at the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant, the Schiller Station in Newington, NH, and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Power Plant.
A skilled machinist and mechanic, in his spare time he enjoyed tinkering with things in his garage. He also enjoyed motorcycle rides with his wife Debra. He was a member of the National Active & Retired Federal Employees Association, the American Legion Hurd-Welch Post 90 and the VFW Post 4479 of Raymond, NH.
He is survived by his wife Debra (Webb) Westrick of Nottingham, NH with whom he shared 43 years of his life with, 37 in marriage; his daughter Lisa Whitehouse of Connecticut; two sons, Michael Westrick of New Hampshire and David Westrick of Michigan; three sisters, Patricia Penner of Fraser, MI, Nancy Hammack of Keaau, HI, and Linda Westrick of Farmington, NM.
Calling Hours will be held on December 3, 2022 from 12:00-2:00 PM at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 2 Epping St., Raymond, NH. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
