Richard Allan Totman, 72, of Edgewood, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 21, 1952, in Edgewood, the son of George and Ilo (Harbaugh) Totman. Rich was raised in the Edgewood area. He started his schooling at Oneida, then attended school in Greeley through 8th grade, graduating from West Delaware High School in 1970. During high school he worked for Palmersheim Implement in Greeley. Rich then attended Kirkwood, graduating with a degree in Automotive Collision Repair in August 1976.
In 1981, Rich was united in marriage to Rosemary Pape. Three children were born to this union. They were later divorced. In 1999, Rich met Nellie Harry and they happily spent the next 25 years together.
After Kirkwood Rich did automotive auto body repair for a few years and then began his 30-year career performing dairy equipment repair work. During this time, he worked for Bou-Matic.
Rich loved to fish and ride his motorcycle. He also enjoyed tinkering in his garage. Rich had a talent for buying broken equipment and restoring them to like new condition. He enjoyed his family and friends, especially time spent with grandchildren.
Survivors include his best friend and life partner, Nellie Harry of Edgewood; his children, Stacia (Greg) Zink of Des Moines, Shelby (Brad) Lamb of Dade City, Florida, and Wes (Sara) Totman of Peosta; four grandchildren, Bianca, Abriana, Nadia, and Benson. Rich was also a loving father to Frank "Mike" (Lynn) Harry of Oelwein, Crystal (Chad) Hansel of Edgewood, and Jason Harry of Manchester; nine additional grandchildren, Jeane, Abby, Dakota, Hailey, Kayla, Alexa, Riley, Olivia, and Jackson. He is also survived by his brother, Roland (Barb) Totman of Edgewood; and many brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ilo Totman.
