Palm Beach Gardens, FL - Richard Saul Slater passed away peacefully on November 6, 2019 at his home. An orthodontist in both Longmeadow, Massachusetts, and Enfield, Connecticut for over 35 years, Richard was known for his warmth, humor and intellectual curiosity. To have had Richard in your life was an extraordinary gift. Born on December 5, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York, the loving son of Sophie and Irving Slater and the brother of the late Lynne Koller of New Jersey, he met his wife Barbara Stern in elementary school at PS 221. Richard attended Brooklyn College and Columbia University Dental and Orthodontic Schools. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time with his friends, but cherished his family most of all. He leaves behind his wife Barbara of 62 years, his three daughters and son in law: Jodi Slater, Amy Slater, Leslie and David Offer, and his four grandchildren: Samatha Wakely, Hannah, Eli, and Sara Offer. His funeral service will be held at the Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral Home in Springfield, Massachusetts, on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at 11:00 AM, followed by burial in Beth El Cemetery in West Springfield, MA.
