Richard K. Shaw passed away on January 10, 2022. He is survived by his daughter Myrna Chapple (Michael) of Smyrna, Georgia, son Mark Shaw of Effingham, Illinois, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Richard was born and raised in Benton, Illinois. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during WWII. He was honorably discharged as an Electricians Mate 2ND Class (EM2), and was awarded the Victory, American, Atlantic-Pacific with 1 Star, and the Philippine Liberation Medals.
He returned to Illinois where he continued his career as an electrician, and became a preacher. He eventually moved to Atlanta and retired.
He is known to his family and friends as Ya-Ya and Dick. His passions included teaching the bible, singing, coaching his grandchildren in sports, horses, fishing, and baseball. Arrangements are with Davis-Struempf Funeral Home.
