Richard (Dick) Scott age 89, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife, Denise, sister- in-law Debra Cathey and caregiver, Vanessa Houk by his side on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, after an extended illness. He was born in Los Angeles, Calif to John Richard Scott of Crieff, Perthshire, Scotland and Medora May Alexander of Los Angeles, Calif.
Richard (Dick Scott) was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 170 in Pico Rivera, Calif. from 1961 to present. He became Business Manager of Local 170 in 1966 until 1986 at which time his was asked to become Vice President of Production Workers at the Sheet Metal Workers International (SMART) office in Washington, DC. Dick retired in 1996 and moved to Louisville, Tn where he made his home with his wife Denise, son Brian and mother in-law, Leona Cox, (deceased). He was involved in the community, attending the Blount County Commissioner Meetings, his love for Politics, and his admiration by many for his negotiation skills. Dick's hobbies were fishing and wood working. His greatest accomplishment when asked was his son, Commander Brian Scott, United States Navy, he was so proud of the choice he made to Serve our Country.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents, John and Medora Scott, sisters, Nancy Parr, Gloria Timms, Shirley Scott and brother, Ernie Scott. He is survived by his wife, Denise; son, Commander Brian Scott (Active Duty) United States Navy (Allie), John, Deborah, Beverly, and Tina; grandchildren, and great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Debra Cathey (Steve Sawicki); brother-in-law, Robert Siebert (Wendy), and nieces and nephews.
