Richard Joseph Scherer, known affectionately as Dick, passed away on July 25, 2024, at the age of 90, in Haines City, Florida while being comforted by his lifelong friend Ruth Owen of Toledo, Ohio.
Born on December 9th, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio where his grandfather, Louis Philip Scherer was head zookeeper of the Toldeo Zoo, he grew up to be a strong, honest man, often regarded as a strong father figure by those around him. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Jacqulyn D. (Cofer) Scherer.
