Richard Charles Saess, Sr., known to all as Dick Saess, of Marietta, Georgia, passed quietly away on Sunday, January 30, 2022, at the age of 89. Dick was born in Chicago, Illinois, on August 30, 1932. His family later moved to Miami, Florida, where he met his beloved wife, Barbara Ann Peters (1938-2009), while serving in the US Navy (1952-1956 Rank AM-2). The couple moved to Marietta, Georgia, shortly after their marriage.
Dick attended Georgia State College, graduating in 1963 as class president. He worked at Lockheed Aircraft until retirement in 1997. Dick was a member of Eastside Baptist Church since 1976, acting as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and RA leader involved with church youth activities. He made numerous trips for Builders for Christ and supported MUST Ministries. He was also active in the Masonic Order and the Men's Garden Club.
Dick is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and Donald Coxe of Pembroke Pines, Florida; daughters Lisa Louise Saess and Pamela Regina Saess of Marietta, Georgia; son Richard "Chip" Charles Saess, Jr., and wife Linda Saess of Villa Rica, Georgia; brother-in-law Richard Peters and wife Naomi Peters of San Diego, California; niece Helen and husband Mike Shaulis of Lugoff, South Carolina; grand daughter Kaylee Saess Copeland and husband Brandon and their daughter, Aurora Liann; grandson Richard "Kyle" Charles Saess III and fianc? April Jones. Finally, by great and great great nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Navy.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made in Dick's name to MUST Ministries.
