Richard Dawes Roberts passed away peacefully on January 31, 2018 from renal failure.
Born in Quincy, Massachusetts on March 13, 1940 he was the son of George Roland Roberts and Barbara Louise (Smeaton) Roberts of Weymouth, MA. Raised in Weymouth, MA, and spent his summers on Cape Cod; Richard "Dickie or Dick" was a Boy Scout and a 1958 graduate of Weymouth High School. Richard studied business at Northeastern University and was a member of Sigma Phi Alpha Fraternity. In 1967 while on vacation in California he met his beloved wife for 50 years, Mary Lou Heath. They raised three children together in Diamond Bar, CA. While raising his family, he coached AYSO Soccer and Diamond Bar Little League where he was also a board member. Richard was a Marketing Executive for various companies most notable were General Electric and was a distributor for Atari video games. Richard enjoyed travel, both his membership in the Boy Scouts and his work took him to all parts of the United States, during his life he visited 49 states. His last twenty-two years were spent in Apple Valley, CA where he spent much of his time with his granddaughter Angela. Richard was an avid reader of history books and a genealogy buff. Mr. Roberts was a member of the Mayflower Society and is a descendant of Mayflower passenger Richard Warren and patriot William Dawes that rode the Midnight ride with Paul Revere on April 18, 1775. He is survived by his wife Mary Lou (Heath) Roberts. Children Debra Leigh Roberts of Apple Valley, CA, Robin Louise Roberts of Redondo Beach, CA, James Rowland Roberts of Lompoc, Ca, twin sister Judith Ann (Roberts) MacDonald and brother –in-law Edgar "Buzzy" MacDonald of Plymouth, MA, brother David Roberts and sister-in-law Diane Roberts of Clarkdale, GA, brother Stephen Roberts and sister-in-law Marylin Roberts of Bourne, MA, Granddaughter Angela Alihari of Apple Valley, CA, Nephew, Michael MacDonald, Niece, Stephanie Roberts, Niece Lisa Ranta many cousins and the family cat Tiger. A celebration of his amazing life will be celebrated this summer in Cape Cod, MA.
