Richard "Rick" Ross Gardner passed away on Feb. 16, 2025, at his home. He was 72 years young, full of life, laughter and stories. Rick was born Nov. 5, 1952, at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Marine Base, to William and Ruth Gardner. He was destined to be a Marine.
After graduating high school in 1970, Rick joined the United States Marine Corp, where he served as a field radio operator. He was stationed in the Philippines, on board ships off the coast of Vietnam. Rick proudly served our country and in doing so, he received many honorable awards. Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device, Rifle Expert Badge and Pistol Marksman Badge. He had great sea (and land) stories as well as fond memories of the men he served with.
After Rick left the military, he moved to Dorris, Calif. Rick started working at the D Ranch. Later on, he started his new career as a professional truck driver. He drove for many companies and eventually retired from Ed Staub. Rick enjoyed golfing, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
Rick is survived by his wife, Carla; sister Barbara Hill; daughters Rikki (Mike) Truax, Lindsey (Tom Luna) Gardner and step son, Trenton Struble. Grandkids: Kylee Truax, Keith Truax, Ryley Amberson, Timothy Luna, Emily Luna, Case Struble and Caiden Struble. Nephew Chris Hill as well as numerous nieces and nephews he was dearly fond of.
Funeral services will be held at the Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point, Ore., on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, at 1 p.m. Memorial services will be held at the VFW 515 Klamath Avenue, Klamath Falls, Ore., on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the VFW in Rick's name.
