Remsen-Richard W. Perkins, 89, of Welsh District Road passed away May 23, 2020 at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born on March 23, 1931 in Holland Patent a son of Sylvester and Florence Evans Perkins. He grew up in Holland Patent and graduated from Holland Patent High School in 1949. He assisted in the operation of the family farm in Holland Patent and on September 19, 1953 he married Nancy E. Myers at St. Leos Church. The couple purchased a dairy farm on the Welsh District Road operating the farm for many years until retiring in 1993. Mrs. Perkins passed away on April 2, 2002. Richard then worked at Holland Patent Farmers Co-Op for a few years where he also served on the board of directors. He was a town councilman and town supervisor for Remsen and was a volunteer at Sunset Nursing Home years ago. He also enjoyed cooking in his later years.
Surviving are four daughters and sons in law, Judy Perkins, Sandy and Robert Hesch, Polly and Robert McCabe and Amy and Michael Robinson; grandchildren, Rachel Hughes, Melissa McCabe, Amanda McCabe, Jessica Seifried, Jennifer Seifried and Danielle Robinson; two great grandchildren, Edward Elias and Seth Kraeger and one sister, Carrie Powers, Holland Patent.
Services will be held privately with interment in Prospect Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sunset Nursing Home Activities Fund, 232 Academy Street, Boonville, NY 13309.
