Dick died on September 26, 2021. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 31, 1929. All of his school years were spent in Washington, PA. He proudly served 4 years in the U.S. Navy and received his BS and MA degrees from Kent State University.
Dick taught 6th grade at South Euclid and was an elementary principal in the Copley-Fairlawn School District for 24 years. He retired in 1985.
He was active in the Copley Athletic Association as a soccer coach and soccer commissioner. He was also Pack Master of the local Cub Scout troop. Dick enjoyed all sports and was an avid golfer. In his lifetime he scored 5 hole-in-ones. He loved the Pittsburg Steelers and enjoyed living in Cleveland Browns territory. Following retirement, he and Mary Jane spent the winters in North Fort Myers, Florida.
Dick's life was enriched by his students, staff, friends, and family. He believed that his good luck helped him find Mary Jane, his wife. He is survived by daughter Susan Casey, grandkids Patrick and David Casey, son Bill, and sister Roberta.
Cremation has taken place and Dick will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 10:45 am, open outdoor committal service friends are welcome to attend. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.rosehillbp.com
