Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Lozano, 75, of Rochester, MN, formerly of East Chain, will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Chain. Burial will follow the service at Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery in East Chain with full military honors. Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church in East Chain. Richard passed away Sunday morning, August 2, 2020, at Ebenezer Ridges Care Center in Burnsville, MN.
Richard Walton Lozano was born on July 31, 1945 to Lupe and Florence (Hytry) Lozano in Blue Earth, MN. Richard was a "Chainer" where he was an all sport athlete and All-State football player for three years. He graduated from East Chain High School in 1963. After graduating from high school, Richard attended Jackson Vo-Tech to be an electrical lineman. In February of 1964, Richard enlisted in the National Guard and served in the Army Reserve until he was honorably discharged in February of 1976.
Richard was united in marriage to Marilyn Fahey in November of 1965 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Richard and Marilyn were blessed with three children, Mark, Anne and Jeff. After their marriage, Richard and Marilyn moved to Rochester where he worked for the City of Rochester as an electrical lineman for a few years. He then went to work at Methodist Hospital in Rochester and while working there, Richard attended college at Winona State. Richard worked at Methodist Hospital/Mayo Clinic for over forty years where he held a variety of positions over his long-term career.
Later in his life Richard married Brenda Martin of Rochester. His family expanded to include her daughters, Stacey (Talabis) and Julie (Lunde) and their families.
Richard was a member of St. Pius in Rochester, MN. He loved attending state fairs and went every year to the Renaissance Festival. He also enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles and old and new cars, especially white cars. One of Richard's favorite treats to eat since he was young was carmel popcorn balls and loved to have one with his family and friends through the years.
He is survived by his children and grandchildren, Mark (Dave Gibbons) Lozano and their children, Clare, Ian and Rory of Arden Hills, MN, Anne (Ed) Hajek and their children, Maria, Charlie and Jack of Burnsville, MN, and Jeff Lozano of Rosemount, MN; two sisters, Audrey (Dennis) Slater of Fairmont, MN and Gloria Svoboda of Jackson, MN; special cousin, June (Keith) Mueller of Watertown, MN; several nieces and nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lupe and Florence Lozano and nieces, Julie Svoboda and Lori Hillmer.
