Richard Neil Lawrence was victorious in his 10-year battle with cancer when he entered his heavenly home on July 28, 2024. He was born in Longview, TX on March 17, 1970. Richard was known for his quick wit, generous heart, abundant humor, and zest for life. He was a loving father, a precious son, a devoted husband, a faithful friend, a private plane pilot, and a Nascar driver wannabe. He loved to make people laugh and his heart's desire was to continue to do so as he walked through his battle with cancer. Rich loved his Heavenly Father and used his battle as an opportunity to share the light of God's love with everyone he could. He was given the opportunity to touch the hearts and lives of countless people and an amazing ability to see the humor in nearly every situation.
Richard was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Azalee Barnett, paternal grandparents, Paul and Marie Lawrence, uncle, Donnie Barnett, and "oldest adopted stepbrother," Arturo "Jam" Jaramillo.
Richard's memory is celebrated by his wife, Heather, daughter, Allison Wilson (Collin), sons Zane Lawrence and Micah Watson, parents, Leslie and Jhonnie Lawrence, brother John Lawrence, grandchildren Leo and Lola Weaver and Maclin and Lincoln Wilson, and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Many of those friends were made through Richard's work in the family business, Leslie's Outdoor Power, where he was a mechanic, salesman, manager, pickup and delivery driver, parts manager, and general comic relief, known to himself as "the man!"
Richard will be honored at his home-going celebration on Saturday, August 3 at 10:00 AM at Macedonia Baptist Church, Longview, TX, under the direction of McWhorter Funeral Home.
Richard loved color and his colorful personality brightened our days. Please join us in celebrating his life by wearing your brightest colors.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day - not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8
