Richard Paul Johnson, 72, of Cook, MN, passed away peacefully on March 26th after a tragic accident on March 14th, 2024.
Richard was born January 23rd, 1952 in Rush City, MN to Warren and Mary Anne Johnson of Harris.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 26 years, Jennifer; mother, Mary Anne; 7 children: Shawna Frank, Holly Spanjers, Lynnae Johnson, Paul Johnson, Stephanie Loberg, Tara Swedzinski, and Brian Weins; 4 siblings; 14 grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
Known as Ricky to some and Dick to others, he grew up in Harris and was a farmer all his life. Ricky's life-long dream was to live on a river and when they found their home in Cook his dream was realized. Whenever he was asked about life after moving to Cook, his famous line was "Living the Dream!"
Ricky was always curious about others and made new friends with everyone he met; asking many questions about their lives and wondering how they could help each other.
Ricky had many interests; he loved to farm, hunt, fish and hunt down good bargains at all garage and estate sales they could find. He enjoyed spending time with Jennifer, his children, grandchildren, and any friend he had; teaching them all his tricks of the trade.
Ricky will be missed dearly by all who loved him!
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the compassionate team of medical professionals at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth that cared for him in his final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Ricky on Saturday, May 18th at the Cook Community Center, Cook, MN from 1:00pm to 4:00pm with a prayer service and moment of sharing at 1:30pm. Online condolences to www.mlakerfuneralhome.com
