Richard B. Elder (Known to friends and family as "Dick") passed away in Exeter NH on July 5, 2021 at the age of 83.
He was born in Kossuth PA, the son of the late Blaine Elder and Margaret (Sherry) Elder.
Dick grew up in Knox, PA where he attended Keystone High School. He then graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (with distinction). He later received a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University.
Dick's career as an Electrical Engineer began with 4 years of service in the United States Air Force. He then worked for RCA Corporation, General Electric, and Martin Marietta in Camden, NJ and Burlington, MA. He also worked as a consultant for a local University. He was widely recognized for his accomplishments, including multiple United States Patents.
Dick resided in Acton, MA for more than 45 years, where he and his former spouse raised his surviving children, Richard B. Elder Jr. and Joyce L. Elder. At his passing, he resided in New Hampshire with his partner's (Christine A. Ayers, deceased) surviving daughter, Lisa M. Matheson, and granddaughter, Madison C. Hamilton, whom he thought of as family. He is also survived by his brother, William L. Elder, and sister, Suzanne S. Seem, many nieces and nephews, and former spouse Sandra B. Elder.
Dick enjoyed playing golf, gardening, and applying his wide range of skills to various household projects. To all who knew him, Dick was recognized for his kindness and willingness to help with any problem in a very thoughtful manner. He will always be remembered for his generous personality and the countless occasions where he had a positive impact on the lives of all the friends, family, and colleagues who were part of his life.
An interment service will be held on August 17th at Asbury United Methodist Church, in Strattanvile, PA..
