Richard "Dick" Spangler of Pawleys Island, formerly of Greenfield and Penn Hills PA, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 22, 2024, with his wife Ellen at his side. The two had recently celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary and were as much in love that day as they had been the first time they laid eyes on each other.
In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by sister Barbara Ward of Pittsburgh. He is also survived by his son Rick and his daughter Susan Finn and their families, his grandchildren were his joy. Also survived by three generations of nieces and nephews.
Dick was always there to lend a hand whenever anyone asked. He loved his God, his family, his friends, his years as an elevator constructor, being a member IUEC Local 6 and his Pittsburgh sports teams. He will be missed.
The family would like to thank the care givers at Legacy Village as well as Toni and Patti at Crescent Hospice for the care they provided to Dick, the kindness they have shown to Ellen and the support they have provided to the family during this difficult time.
A Christian burial and celebration of Dick's life is planned for a later date.
