Richard (Dick) Leroy Peck, Edwardsburg, MI passed away December 26, 2024, at age 78, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was born in Fairfield, IA in 1946 to the late Maynerd and Mary Peck, and lived in Brighton, IA until college. Surviving is his wife, Diana of 55 years, sons, Chad (Allyson) & John (Maria), two grandchildren (Collin and Sophie), and five siblings. He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas, two siblings, and his parents.
In his early years he lived and worked on his uncle's farm in the summers, treasuring every part of farm life.
He graduated from the University of Iowa with a BS degree in civil engineering. He started his career with the DOT and finished his career as a business leader with American Consulting Engineers, providing design, surveying, and construction inspection services for roads and bridges throughout the Chicagoland area.
Dick and his wife lived in Dixon, IL for 10 years where they started their family and then Naperville, IL for 30 years where they raised their family.
Nothing made him happier than bringing friends and family together: neighborhood camping trips to MI, playing a game of backyard volleyball, a competitive game of continental rummy, or laughter around a raging precisely built fire in the fire pit. He also enjoyed his time as a Boy Scout leader and the many overnight camping trips. Dick and his wife loved traveling across the U.S., often visiting family and camping along the way.
It was his lifelong dream to live on a lake and own a boat. Upon retirement, he and his wife lived on Eagle Lake in Edwardsburg, MI and spent many hours boating and enjoying lake life.
He proudly volunteered at the American Legion Post 365, Edwardsburg, MI. Among his many duties was serving as chair of Sons of The American Legion membership and cooking in the kitchen for burger nights. He proudly earned the local title of "king of spread sheets."
A celebration of life will be held in the spring or summer of 2025.
