97, of New Berlin, WI passed on January 14, 2021 at the Veterans Home in Union Grove. He was born May 6, 1923 to Roland Cowle and Florence (nee Norton) Cowle on an island on the Mississippi River near Redwing, Minnesota. Richard was in the United States Navy from 1942-1963. He served in the Pacific during World War II on several tin cans, battlewagons, and Pacific islands. He was also part of the nuclear tests in the Bikini Islands after the war. On July 13, 1954 he married Patricia Clark. He is survived by son, Patrick (Barbara) Cowle; daughter, Jodi Cowle; grandchildren, Ryan (Liz) Cowle, Allison (Lance) Matthews, Emilie Huckaby; great-grandchildren, Teagan Cowle and Brexley Matthews; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife, Patricia Cowle; parents, Florence and Roland Cowle; brother, Roland (Doris) Cowle; Sisters, Gladys (Fritz) Hagerstrom, Jean (Victor) Brott, Gloria (Clarence) Engle, and Shirley (Tom) Hall. Richard was unfailingly generous and helpful to his family and friends. He helped others throughout his life with home repairs and improvements. He had a strong work ethic. He enjoyed playing pool, cards, and golfing with his wife. He will be missed by many. Miller-Reesman FH 262-878-2500
