Richard Guy Cottingham Sr., a.k.a. "Buzzard" passed away October 15, 2021 in the hospital with family by his side. Born December 20,1947 to the late Cone and Esther (Conrad) Cottingham. He served in The United States Army with the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War.
Richard was a hard worker during his life. He was a press operator at Ohio Match Co, construction worker, and for the last several years he worked at foundries in Akron. Richard owned and enjoyed muscle cars. He was a big nascar fan and loved the Browns. (GO BROWNS). His laugh is contagious and his sense of humor was infectious. He was so loving, and would give you his last penny if it meant it would help you. He was a kind soul who only wanted everyone to laugh and enjoy life.
He is survived by his loving wife Andrea of 18 years; sons, Richard (Melanie) Cottingham Jr., Gary (Gail) Cottingham, Paul Cottingham; daughter, April Cottingham; stepson, Randy Wells; grandchildren, Patrick Cottingham, Chelsea (AJ) Szweda, Joseph Cottingham, Dylan Cottingham, Dustin Cottingham, Megan Cottingham, Hailee Bishoff, and Brooklynn Bishoff; and a great granddaughter named Allyson Szweda, who was the apple of his eye. He will also be missed by his sister, Charlotte (John) Harris; his in laws, many nieces and nephews, friends, and his beloved cat Smokey.
He is preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Linda; sister, Rebecca Elsmore; and brother, Dwight Cottingham.
Cremation has taken place and he will be laid to rest in the spring at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
