Richard "Hollywood" Conroy, 61, of Northfield, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019. He was born August 25, 1958, in Red Wing, to Joseph and Madelyn (Grant) Conroy and grew up and attended school in Red Wing. He worked as a journeyman carpenter for many years until an injury forced him to choose a different profession. He started his own trucking company "Hollywood Transport" which he's owned and operated for the past 30 years. Richard loved children, and was blessed with five of them. Aside from children, his loves and hobbies included pheasant hunting, firearms and his Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He was a member of the X-Winos Motorcycle Club, which was a huge part of his life. He wintered in Arizona so he could ride his bike, something he couldn't always find time for in the busy MN summers while working. "Hollywood" was a true character, and if you were lucky, he gave you a nickname, too.
He is survived by his children, Shannon Conroy of Red Wing, Joseph Conroy of Chesapeake, VA, Micah (Brittany) Conroy and Taylor Downs both of Northfield; siblings, Scott Conroy, Thomas (Sharon) Conroy, Karen Peters and Julie Conroy all of Red Wing, Kathy Conroy of Baltimore, MD and Linda (Jim) Pommeranz of Faribault; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Conroy of Red Wing and Angie Farnsworth of Janesville and a brother-in-law, Greg Gernentz of Red Wing; as well as many grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jessie Ogden; brothers, Eugene "Butch" Farnsworth and Michael Conroy and sisters, Susan Gernentz and Peggy Conroy.
Mass of the resurrection will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, at the Church of St. Joseph in Red Wing, with Father Thomas M. Kommers officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6 at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing and for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Red Wing. Memorials are preferred to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com
