Richard J. "Bird" Campbell, 68, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. He was born on November 1, 1955, in Omaha, Nebraska, to the late Allen Campbell Sr. and Pauline Conner Campbell.
Along with his parents, Bird, as he was affectionately known, was reunited in passing with his brother Allen Campbell Jr., sisters Bev Mattes and Shirley Campbell, and his brothers-in-law, Dean Thiessen and Corky East.
Bird proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1976 through 1979. Following his honorable discharge, Bird worked as a real estate appraiser. In his free time, Bird was an avid firearms enthusiast. He was Secretary and Vice President at the Papillion Gun Club and was a skilled Hunting Safety Instructor. Bird was also a proud member of the NRA. He enjoyed coaching his children and others in baseball, softball, and football. Above all else, Bird loved his family wholeheartedly. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish Bird's memory are his adoring wife, Lisa Wells Campbell of Myrtle Beach, SC; their daughter, Stephanie Nickerson and her husband, Louis of Honolulu, HI; son, Graham Campbell and his wife, Laura of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Emma, JayLynn, Madelyn, Hadley, and Hudson; siblings, Bette (Jerry) Swantek, Pat East, Peggy Sharrar, Ginny (Wayne) Czaplewski, Kathy Thiessen, Barb (Skip) Howery, Donna (Rick) Miller, K. Walter (Louann) Campbell, Bob Campbell, Teri Fuhs, and Gary Campbell; sister-in-law Dixie Campbell as well as numerous nieces, nephews, a large, loving, extended family, and many supportive friends and neighbors.
