Richard R. "Dick" Bush, Sr., 66, of Sheffield, MA, slipped peacefully from this life on January 27, 2021, after a valiant battle with liver and colon cancers. After a snowy ride home in the ambulance, he climbed the steps of the motorhome one last time, curled up in bed and welcomed family to snuggle and visit. His last 24 hours were spent exactly as he had hoped - a raucous good time with his family and then he went to sleep on the couch and never woke up.
Dick grew up in Lake George, NY with a passion for the outdoors and made geology his career. He taught earth and physical science to students at Fall Mountain Regional HS., MASH (Milford), and Wasatch Academy. He worked as a geologist for Aries Engineering, GZA, and recently retired from Unicorn Management Consultants in Danbury, CT. Dick's passion, his irreverent humor, and his work ethic made him a joy to work with and inspired students to see the world differently. He will be missed.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 36 years, Patricia (Hodgman) Bush of Sheffield, MA and their three children: Richard Bush and his wife, Malessa of Swanzey, NH, Amy Bush of Chantilly, VA, and Andrea Bush of Dummerston, VT. as well as his two precious grandchildren, Logan and Brooklyn Bush. He is survived by his sister, Kathleen St. Jean and her husband David of Amherst, NH, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, H. Daniel and Marjorie Bush of Queensbury, NY.
A memorial service will be held at a time when it is safe to gather his wide circle of friends and family to celebrate his life. For more information or to sign the guest book, please visit www.frenchandrising.com.
