Richard A. "Elmo" Brown, 65, of Newville, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at home. He was born on July 5, 1959, in Clarksburg, WV and was a son of the late Elmer Brown and Rosalie (Squires) Brown.
Richard graduated in 1977 from Liberty High School in Clarksburg. He retired from the West Virginia Department of Highway in 2005. He attended McClure's Gap Church of God, Newville. Richard enjoyed classic rock music, football, and NASCAR. He was a platinum member of the Busch Light Club where he celebrated "BB Thirty" everyday - "shoo-wee." He enjoyed being the lead groundskeeper at his home, "The Gap."
He is survived by one son Jeremy (wife Brooke) Brown of Newville, one sister JoLynn Fahey of McDonald, PA, two grandchildren, Ryan Lebo and Briggs Brown and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Robert Brown.
A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. in the McClure's Gap Church of God, 130 Church of God Road, Newville, PA 17241 with Corey L. Britcher, Lead Pastor of McClure's Gap Church of God officiating. The burial will be private. A time of fellowship will follow the service.
